Her Puck Perspective – Women’s Hockey Weekly Recap – March 8th, 2026
It was another fun week! Let’s dive into the action.
PWHL Games
Victoire @ Sceptres
- Final score: Victoire 4, Sceptres 3 (SO)
- Attendance: 8,671
- Goal scorers (Victoire): Marie-Philip Poulin (8), Hayley Scamurra (2), Lina Ljungblom (2)
- Goal scorers (Sceptres): Maggie Connors (2), Blayre Turnbull (5), Jesse Compher (6)
- Thoughts: This was quite the back and forth game. The Sceptres took a 2-0 lead before the Victoire tied it up and then took the lead in the 3rd period, before the Sceptres tied it back up late in the game with their goalie pulled. It took 6 rounds in the shootout for the Victoire to get the victory, with Marie-Philip Poulin taking 3 of the 6 shots for the Victoire, and making 2 of them. Both teams continued their strong play since the Olympic break, but it was the Victoire taking the extra standings point, extending their lead in first place.
Torrent @ Charge
- Final score: Charge 4, Torrent 3
- Attendance: 6,997
- Goal scorers (Charge): Alexa Vasko (1), Fanuza Kadirova (5), Emily Clark (3), Fanuza Kadirova (6)
- Goal scorers (Torrent): Jessie Eldridge (6), Jessie Eldridge (7), Alex Carpenter (6)
- Thoughts: After a lengthy delay to this game due to some issues with the ice, the game finally got underway. The Torrent outshot the Charge in this game 36-27, but the Torrent continue to struggle to close out games. They had a nice comeback in this one, but the Charge had the answer late, and the Charge continue to get stronger while the Torrent continue to struggle. Let’s not dismiss the fact that the Torrent are once again playing without captain Hilary Knight, and the impact that has, but overall, they haven’t looked like the team I expected them to at the start of the season.
Fleet @ Sirens
- Final score: Fleet 1, Sirens 0
- Attendance: 3,765
- Goal scorers (Fleet): Ella Huber (2)
- Goal scorers (Sirens): n/a
- Thoughts: The Fleet just keep winning. They dominated the first period in terms of shots on goal, outshooting the Sirens 9-3 in the first period, before the Sirens flipped the script in the 2nd period and outshot the Fleet 13-6 in that period. The teams were even on shots in the 3rd period with 7 apiece, and Boston got all the scoring they needed to allow Aerin Frankel to continue to show why she’s such a great goalie, as if we didn’t already know that! The Fleet seem to thrive in these low scoring, close games, and they are tough to beat. Having so many players that played such important roles in the Olympics seems to have given them a lift coming back after the Olympics as well.
Frost @ Sceptres
- Final score: Frost 3, Sceptres 2 (OT)
- Attendance: 8,604
- Goal scorers (Frost): Denisa Křížová (1), Taylor Heise (4), Kelly Pannek (9)
- Goal scorers (Sceptres): Emma Woods (1), Daryl Watts (7)
- Thoughts: The Sceptres were at an end of a tiring travel schedule, especially for their Olympians, who had less than a day at home after the Olympics before the Sceptres traveled west to play the Goldeneyes and Torrent. The Sceptres played well despite being a bit tired from their recent busy schedule, but couldn’t find a way to win this game, but at least notched a point in the standings by going to OT. Taylor Heise was the star for the Frost, factoring in on all 3 goals with an assist on each of the goals that she didn’t score. The Frost had the shots advantage in this game, 35-24, and used that to get the OT win.
Charge @ Sirens
- Final score: Sirens 6, Charge 2
- Attendance: 8,264
- Goal scorers (Sirens): Maddi Wheeler (2), Sarah Fillier (2), Taylor Girard (6), Taylor Girard (7), Allyson Simpson (1), Sarah Fillier (3)
- Goal scorers (Charge): Brianne Jenner (9), Gabbie Hughes (3)
- Thoughts: The Sirens grabbed ahold of this game in the 1st period with 3 goals in the period, and never looked back from there. The Charge did make it 3-2 early in the 3rd period, but the Sirens pulled away with 3 more goals that period to get to a convincing win. This was the best home crowd for a Sirens game, so it was nice to see them play so well in front of a good crowd.
